AFF is the most popular modern methodology for learning to skydive. By the end of the course, you will have gained the required skills to safely skydive solo. The AFF course consists of 9 stages or levels, and it is the first step to obtaining your skydiving licence in Australia.

What to wear skydiving?
- Wear comfy clothes you can move in. Dress for the weather on the day, it will be a little cooler up top.
- If you wear glasses that’s fine, we have special oversize goggles.
- Secure footwear that’s not going to fall off is a must. No flip flops or thongs, enclosed shoes such as runners are required.
- Remember to empty your pockets!

What are the physical requirements to skydive?
Almost anyone with good health can do a Tandem skydive, even seniors over 80 years old. The most important factors are:
- Being able to lift your legs for landing.
- Not having any severe health condition.

How safe is skydiving?
At SKYONE, we prioritise safety through rigorous training, the latest equipment, and strict adherence to industry best practices, ensuring that your skydiving experience is as safe as it is thrilling. You can learn more with our blog post dedicated to skydiving safety.
What if my parachute doesn't open?
This scenario is extremely rare due to our multi-layered safety systems. Every rig has a main parachute, a reserve parachute, and an Automatic Activation Device (AAD). If the main parachute malfunctions, your instructor will deploy the reserve. In the highly unlikely event that your instructor is incapacitated, the AAD will automatically deploy the reserve parachute at a safe altitude.
How experienced are your instructors?
We set the bar high, demanding twice the minimum experience required by the Australian Parachute Federation. Our skydiving instructors must have completed at least 800-1,000 skydives before they can even begin tandem instructor training. Most of our SKYONE team members have well over 5,000 skydives under their belts and years of experience taking passengers on tandem skydives. This extensive experience ensures you’re in the hands of highly skilled professionals.
How safe are the skydiving gear and aircraft?
All our equipment incorporates the latest technology in the industry. We have in-house specialised riggers whose main job is to take care of all the gear with regular inspections and re-packs of reserve parachutes. We follow the same principles with all our aircraft, which are checked and maintained regularly by our in-house engineers. This dual approach ensures our practices exceed industry standards.
Why is skydiving so expensive?
Skydiving is relatively expensive due to the high costs associated with running a safe and professional operation. Although the price point may seem high, margins are low:
- Aircraft are very expensive to acquire, with high variable costs: maintenance, insurance, fuel…
- Infrastructure costs: hangars, land rent, aerodrome costs…
- Staff, with highly specialised jobs: skydiving instructors, ground crew, aircraft pilots, riggers, engineers, customer and operations teams…there are a lot of people involved in making skydiving possible.
- Expensive specialised equipment, with regular maintenance costs.
Now, is the price really that high when you get to experience the most incredible adrenaline rush, jumping out of an aircraft, enjoying the views, the freefall, the parachute flight…with a highly trained professional?
