AFF Airlie Beach FAQs
Get answers to some of the most common questions about learning to skydive in Cairns
How long does it take to do the AFF course?
Master skydiving at a rhythm that suits you. Pay for each lesson as you go – there’s no need to sign up for the entire course in advance. Simply aim to jump every fortnight or so to maintain your skills.
What experience do I need before the AFF course?
No prior experience needed. If you fancy getting a taste first, trying a tandem skydive can be helpful. It gives you a glimpse of what’s to come and might lessen the sensory rush during your initial solo jump.
What is the total cost of the A Licence?
Achieving the A licence typically requires between 15 and 25 jumps, including at least 10 observed landings meeting the accuracy standards. The cost usually ranges from $3,199 to $4,000. Discover more about obtaining a skydiving licence in Australia
Do I need to buy my own gear after completing the AFF Course?
You can purchase jump tickets that include equipment rental as you look to purchase your initial rig, with advice from your skydiving instructors.
Can I fly a wingsuit after the AFF course?
Under current APF regulation: flying a wingsuit requires a minimum of 200 jumps, a D licence, and completing the wingsuit crest with a qualified coach.
Is the APF licence if I travel overseas?
Indeed, your APF credentials are recognised internationally, though you might need to obtain temporary or guest memberships in some countries.
Can I jump with other licensed skydivers after AFF?
After you finish your B-rel table and receive approval from your Chief Instructor, you’ll be permitted to skydive with other licensed jumpers, advancing to larger formations with the Star Crest. Learn more about the journey after the AFF course
